Break-In Suspect Ends Up In Hospital After Fleeing Scene, Crashing Vehicle

A break-in suspect fled from police in Havelock Wednesday night, crashed his vehicle, and ended up in the hospital.

A spokeswoman for the city of Havelock says police were assisting Craven County deputies with a call about a break-in at the Sureshot Gunsports shooting range on Adams Creek Road about 6:30 Wednesday night. She says the suspect took off in a vehicle and crashed. An ambulance transported the suspect to an EastCare helicopter which took the man to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

The Craven County Sheriff's Office is investigating the break-in report and the Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.

The suspect's name has not been released.
