Boil Water Advisory After Coliform Bacteria Discovered

A boil water advisory has been issued for residents served by one Carteret County water district after coliform bacteria was found.

The North River/Mill Creek Water District says coliform bacteria has shown up in two consecutive samples at the Old Winberry Road tank site. The state now requires the water district to issue the boil advisory until good tests are received.

The water district says it will vigorously flush the system until it receives clean tests. Residents should use bottle water or boil water for human consumption for at least one minute until further notice.
