Bob Etheridge Campaigns In Greenville Saturday

A North Carolina democratic candidate for governor was in Greenville Saturday campaigning.

Former U.S. Representative Bob Etheridge was at Winslow's Deli and Tavern in Greenville to rally and meet supporters.

Etheridge is one of six democratic candidates running for the top position. He is a former congressman and superintendent.

Etheridge said he is running his campaign with a focus on the importance of education in North Carolina.

Etheridge told WITN, "If you give a child a good start in school and you nurture them all the way through you can not only change their lives but the next generation and education is the one thing that levels the playing field for everybody."

Ethridge also said he admires the way current Governor Beverly Perdue has fought for education, despite crippling budget cuts.

Etheridge has faced some controversy. A video released back in 2010 showed Etheridge in a physical confrontation with another man on a Washington D.C. sidewalk. Etheridge has since apologized for actions.
