Boater Rescued In Bogue Sound

A man is recovering from falling into chilly waters, and he has a good Samaritan to thank for his life today.

A boater fell into the Bogue Sound off Arendell Street in Morehead City Wednesday, according to the Carteret County News-Times.

Another boater helped pull the man out of the water, which the paper says was about 42 degrees. The News-Times says the man was in the water for about five minutes, and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

    Was he wearing a lifejacket? In waters that cold a person could loose consciousness in as little as 15 minutes, especially if they aren't in good physical condition. This fellow was very lucky and I hope others take heed of this incident.
