Bittersweet Opening Night For Kinston Indians

Before the Kinston Indians' season opener, people were hard at work at Grainger Staduim getting ready for opening night, from mowing the grass to stocking concessions.

Kinston's affiliation with the Cleveland Indians is the longest affiliation in the Carolina League and one of the longest affiliations in Single A baseball. Opening day, this year, is bittersweet for many, who have been loyal K-tribe fans for many years.

"We had a 25 year relationship with Cleveland. We'll be sad to see the Indians go, but we're still optimistic we'll see another professional baseball team here next year," said director of parks and recreation Bill Ellis.

Sports director billy weaver will have highlights of the season opener later in sports.
