Hundreds of bikers from all across eastern North Carolina rode out Wednesday night for the 12th straight year to honor the victims of 9/11 starting at the Sam's Club in Winterville at 7:00 p.m.
Organizers say the riders are all ages and from various riding backgrounds, not just one specific biker club.
The group had an escort from Greenville and Winterville Police as their route took them 26 miles round trip around the area, lasting about half an hour.
Alice Manning was one of the main organizers, and spoke with us before the bikers rode off.
"Even though they're not our brothers and sisters by blood, everybody is brothers and sisters in this world. It just makes us feel good that we're honoring them, and letting them know, their families, that we care," said Manning.
Manning says thanks to Facebook and other means of spreading the word, the event continues to get bigger, as more and more people come out every year to support the cause.
