Bike M.S. Takes To New Bern Roads

Drivers beware -- more than 2,000 bikes will be on the roads of New Bern this weekend.

Bike M.S. kicks off Saturday with the staging taking place at Union Point Park in New Bern. Officials say 2,400 bikes could be on the marked course in the Bear City. Routes range from 30 to 100 miles long.

The event lasts into Sunday and raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

News Flash Carl-The posted speed limit is the know, as in MAXIMUM speed. Bikes and cyclists have the same right to use the roads as do motorists. You may wish to slow down. The life you save might be your own...or loved ones.

It is an amazing sight to see-people taking back the roads and bridges from the gas guzzlers that are supporting the economy of the middle east. Go bikers! Be healthy and have fun. I'll make sure I drive slowly and carefully behind you as we share the road.

So why doesn't Pitt Hospital sponsor something like this here in Greenville? Can you imagine 2,000 people filling our hotels, eating in our restaurants, being healthy, raising funds, and using next to no resources? What an economic win for New Bern and loss for Greenville!
