It is called the biggest Halloween party in the east, and Greenville Police are among those there making sure there are no problems.
Early in the night the streets were already packed with those in costume looking to have some fun.
Sergeant Joe Friday with Greenville Police says more than 100 officers are searching anyone entering the downtown bar area to keep the large crowds of people safe. Quite a relief, considering zombies like Kylee Hewitt are walking around. Hewitt says, "It was actually my first time doing zombie makeup so I'm pretty proud of myself. I scared a little kid at the gas station earlier so, I knew I did a good job."
Hewitt says this is her first Halloween in Greenville, but she says with thousands of people expected to hit the town, she'll leave early and the craziness behind .
Sergeant Joe Friday says the police came prepared to keep the craziness to a minimum. Among other things, Greenville police say they are wearing cameras and there are cameras mounted all over downtown also keeping an eye on partiers.
He also says there is a D.W.I. Checkpoint in the Greenville area as they try to keep the roads as safe as possible.
