Bertie County Manager Heading To Chowan County

Less than a year after getting a heft pay raise, the manager for Bertie County is heading north for a new job.

Zee Lamb gave his notice to county commissioners Thursday. County Commissioner Norman Cherry told WITN News that Lamb gave them a 60-day notice.

Earlier this year Bertie County gave Lamb a controversial $42,000 pay raise to make his annual salary around $144,000.

"Amber", Why would you think a man and not a woman is coming in your place? I hear Pnut is putting in.

who ever pnut is would probably do a good job. If you do not like him then from the comments that i have seen you write then he would do well. If you are so good why dont you reply. You can have the job it is not enough money for me to put up with the people that all they want to do is destroy any manager that does not see it there way especially yours.

Okay, first of all I have something to say to RON. What church do you attend? Because for you to spew out of your mouth "your glad he don't attend your church anymore" what does that say about your christian character. We are suppose to thank God when people want to be in his house. Who are you to judge? Second, I would like to say Zee Lamb is a great guy, and has been a good neighbor. I think people should think twice before saying ugly things about him. How would you feel if the shoes were on the other foot! We should congradulate him in his on going endevors and start looking at the new man coming in his place. Good Luck Zee we will miss you!

Guess he saw writting on the wall and left before he was fired. Now if we can get rid of the other crooks who were in on this secret raise then the county can start over. "way to go zee" or maybe just "go zee!!"

Well you will be sorry for what you wish for and you will probably wish for him back. Nothing secret at all if you had been at the open meeting when they voted but that is not your style. Bertie is going to miss him in the future remember that.

It will surprise me if any of the comms are replaced in this upcoming election. You probably had a better chance in the last election to replace some but do not worry you will get the chance maybe in 2016. Well maybe you should run, then i can go to the meetings and watch you work. I do go to the meetings do you.

Good for him! I hate to see him go because he done alot of good things for Bertie County... Just wait until we get a no good County Manager as his replacement and then let the complaining start about that! Chowan County you are getting a great County Manager, just don't run him away like the idiots in our county did!

I agree John Davis aka "friends of Bertie" has done nothing but divide Bertie County since he came home. I'm just glad he does not attend our church in Windsor any longer. Please name one positive thing he has done for bertie county. He is trying to destroy the county.

John Davis is nothing but a trouble-maker... Agreed on that! Also that farmer from Powellsville, his name is slipping my mind but I am sure you know who I am referring to, he also headed up the 13 Bypass protest!

Yay!! what idiots ran him off? Surely not the four of Friends of Bertie? If four guys can run a man out then he ain't worth much to begin with. Surely there must be a something more for a man to leave a hundred and fifty thousand just out of the blue. Pnut, what say u?

Because he wanted to and ever where he turned he got the blame for most everything that went wrong but never the praise. Yes not many came out with support but his work stood for himself. He left for it was time to go and Bertie will be sorry he left.

Let's see now. He has sixty days to keep drawing 154,000 and he just sent his old bosses down the river while he crossed the river. Will they continue to pay him or let him go?

Let get this straight. County pays this guy a buck and a half and he cuts and runs on them for a buck? Doesn't make sense. That rat smells!

Please cliff hanger.... Not only was he not involved,,but he didn't know about it until it was done. He does not start work until Jan. And you want to blame him for something he doesn't know the facts about. Welcome to Chowan!
  • by John on Nov 11, 2011 at 01:58 AM
He was the best county manager I have ever worked with. Chowan's gain is definitely Bertie's loss. Bertie is the loser here. More bad news for Bertie. But you can't blame him, I would have done the same thing.
