Beaufort Man Charged With Stabbing Neighbor

A stabbing has landed a Beaufort man in jail after police say he attacked his neighbor.

Beaufort police say Kenneth Carter is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after a stabbing Saturday night on Pollock Street. Police say they found the victim, John Eubanks, Jr. standing against a telephone pole and he appeared to have an injury to his abdomen. The victim began to fall as police approached him and officers saw a large cut on his stomach.

Eubanks told police he answered a knock at his apartment door and Carter pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him. Carter, who lives in the same apartment building, was arrested and his bond was set at $30,000.

The 62-year-old victim has since been released from the hospital.
