Beaufort Co. Commissioners To Discuss UHS

The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday to discuss changes to the proposal to take over the Beaufort County Medical Center.

University Health Systems amended its original letter of intent for leasing the hospital in Washington.

The proposal includes adjustments in price based on a recent hospital audit. UHS would pay $25 million instead of the $30 million originally proposed.

The meeting takes place Monday at 5 p.m.

I think the employees and doctors of the health system deserve our thanks and gratitude for "hanging in there" and working so hard during this time. I would not want to go to work everyday wondering if I would have a job the next day. The staff deserves a pat on the back not a knife in the back!!!

Thank you Derik. We have hung in there even though many of us could of just got a job at PCMH. We care about our hospital and community. This has not been any easy time for staff or management. We need for this process to be complete so that we can move on.

The hospital has been in trouble for a long time. We need first a change in management through out the hospital. The ED is really in trouble, Hard to get good help & the help that come there do not have good moral. There is some good nurses in the ed, but there is a lot of bad one down in the ed also. I know this as a fact. The emergency department really need a changeover.

I have not ever heard anyone say anything negative about Mr. Spruill at all. I think most people know where the problems are.

He has done a great job. I don't know that he will be here much longer. Just look at what he has to contend with in all of those meetings.

Who cares. Name calling not cool with all that the hospital board has put everyone through. Everyone at the hospital is concern, it is terrible someone said something to you that you considered gossip, but we just heard your gossip but you did not mention your name. You are no better than what you are suggestioning they are. Boo Hoo Hoo.

If you really wanna know the inside scoop, stop by Human Resources. Mrs. Tracy Black will tell all the inside gossip. Why did employees get paid to gossip all day?

Dear anonymous, Without BCMC you could find yourself on the street(literally) in the cold waiting for transport to PCMH. You could have been at BCMC getting a "bandaid" but instead you will just freeze and die waiting in the street. A lifesaving bandaid.
  • by WOW on Apr 4, 2011 at 10:42 AM
To anonymous: Not Surprised is right. I hope that you don't ever need BCMC when you are on your way to Pitt. You or a family member may die before you get there, when a stop for a "bandaid" would have saved a life.
