A big donation to tornado relief efforts in Eastern Carolina was announced this morning, one week after seven twisters ripped through the region.
PotashCorp Aurora presented a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross. That money, along with other relief efforts, will stay right here in Eastern Carolina.
Over the past week, the Red Cross has served 4,768 meals and snacks, distributed 394 supplies which include blankets, tarps, comfort kits and clean up kits, and mobilized 115 disaster workers.
The aftermath of the treacherous tornadoes that ripped across the east is devastating, but the Red Cross has been endlessly lending a helping hand with the recovery process.
To express gratitude for the Red Cross' efforts, the PotashCorp Aurora will present the organization with a $100,000 check Friday.
The company will present the donation to the Beaufort County Red Cross 10 a.m. Friday at the Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce in Washington.
