Rescue Crews Respond To Single Car Wreck

Two people have been transported to the hospital after a single car accident in Pitt County.

Authorities say one car crashed on County Home Rd. in Ayden, just south of Highway 102. The accident happened just before 4 a.m.

Officials on the scene say two people inside the vehicle slid off the road and crashed into a brick column. Both people suffered lower extremity injuries. A female involved in the accident made her way out of the car and crawled 400 feet to reach help.

Lawmen have not released any names. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Seems odd to keep the names under wraps for so long with no fatalities. I hope these people are OK. It has been a bad year in Pitt County for late night car accidents it seems, or maybe I'm just noticing it more.

Are you trying to say the vehicle, which contained 2 people, slid off the road, or somehow the people slid off the road?
