Woman Charged After Car Hits Greenville Tobacco Shop

Police have charged a driver after her vehicle crashed into a Greenville business yesterday morning.

The Tobacco Express, near the K-Mart on Greenville Boulevard, had it's front door expanded by the 11:00 a.m. accident.

Police have charged Lequanda Askew with reckless driving. Reports say the woman was in the parking lot and hit the gas too hard, crashing her vehicle into the building.

A customer, Jamel Brown, had just left the business. He said the woman's car missed hitting him by about an arm's length.

Previous Story

A vehicle crashed into the front of a business this morning, nearly hitting a customer who had just left the store.

Greenville police and fire crews responded to the Tobacco Express in the K-Mart shopping center on Greenville Boulevard around 10:30 a.m.

The vehicle first struck a brick column in front of the business, before slamming into the front door. The woman in the vehicle did not appear to be seriously injured.

One man tells WITN that he was nearly hit by the car as he left the business. Jamel Brown says he "cheated death" when he was just an arm-length away from the out of control car.

Greenville police have not yet released any information on a possible cause.

I just hate it when I'm driving along, minding my own business, and a building jumps out in front of me like that.

Bah! Whatever! Happy Women's History Month! Regardless, men are the detriment to society regardless. Women Unite and who cares what males think!! Women out number us and live longer regardless. It is what it is. I love women, love my mother, my wife, and my daughter and who cares what we men think when it comes them, because they are becoming the majority. Better to be on their side, than ours. I love you women!! Woo hoo!!

Being charged with a crime does not automatically mean you are guilty. Standard procedure.
