The hunt for a registered sex offender has ended for a Lenoir County man who authorities say caused a Highway Patrol troopers to wreck his cruiser this morning in Lenoir County.

Stevie Foster of Deep Run was captured around 2:00 p.m. and deputies say he was armed with a 9mm handgun.

The Highway Patrol says Trooper Josh Noble was pursuing Foster through a field when his cruiser struck a ditch.

First Sergeant C.L. Johnston says it started around 7:15 a.m. on Highway 11 south of Kinston when the trooper spotted a man who matched the description of Foster, who was wanted by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office.

Trooper Noble turned his cruiser around and started to check the man for weapons when he took off into the field. Noble chased the man, and fell in the field. Johnston says at this point the trooper decided to get back in his cruiser and chase the man through the field.

The first sergeant says Noble's cruiser struck a ditch and became disabled. The trooper was send to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The 32-year-old Foster was wanted on warrants for assault on a female, 2nd degree kidnapping and three counts of assault on a government official.

He is listed on the state's sex offender registry because of an out of state conviction.

Foster was wanted for a domestic violence case that happened Monday. Deputies say Foster will face additional charges for what happened today.
