A teen has been arrested for a Greenville shooting Friday afternoon, and another was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries . Police say they were fighting over a bicycle.
19-year-old Markais Allen is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon. Police say he shot 19-year-old Debracy Barnes in the back after they fought over a bike.
Officers responded just after 5:00 p.m. Friday to the 800 block of Fleming Street and arrested Allen a few minutes later about a block away on Tyson Street. A police canine assisted in locating Allen and the weapon used in the shooting.
Allen is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Greenville police are investigating a shooting Friday afternoon.
It happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. in the 800 block of Fleming Street. Police tell us one man was shot in the back and was alive when he was rushed to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A few minutes later police apprehended a suspect about a block away on Tyson Street. It all happened near the old Sadie Saulter School.
Greenville police remain at the scene.
