Kidnapping & Shooting Suspect Arrested In Motel Raid

Law enforcement officials surrounded a motel in Kinston Friday and arrested a suspect in a kidnapping and shooting from earlier this week in Wayne County.

Kinston Police assisted Mt. Olive Police as they moved in on a room at the West Park Inn & Suites on Highway 70 in Kinston. WITN was there as law enforcement arrested 26-year-old Shontionne Darden. Darden was wanted for kidnapping, armed robbery and assault.

A home on Oliver Street in Mt. Olive was shot up Tuesday morning after neighbors told police they spotted a woman flagging down cars around 4:20 a.m. saying she had been kidnapped in Goldsboro.

Police say Darden was the one who shot at the house after the homeowners told him they had not seen the victim.

Officers say a few hours earlier, the kidnapping victim left work at a Goldsboro club and accepted a ride from Darden. Police say he let the woman out when she asked, but came back and forced her into the car at gunpoint. Police say the woman was able to escape and that's when she ran to the house that was hit by gunfire.

Two other people were taken into custody with Darden but were later released.
