FIRST ON WITN: Bank Robbery Suspect In Custody

A bank robbery suspect, arrested early this morning in Jacksonville, went before a district court judge.

Rodney Milton is being held on a $130,000 bond after his arrest at the Coastal Motel on Wilmington Highway by Jacksonville police.

Police identified Milton as the suspect in the robbery of the Marine Federal Credit Union on Richlands Highway Wednesday after someone saw the surveillance photo of the robber on WITN News and called police.

Milton is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Police say Milton took a taxi cab to the bank, walked in an handed the teller a note demanding money and then left in the same cab.

Jacksonville Police have identified a suspect in the robbery of the Marine Federal Credit Union on Richlands Highway Wednesday after someone saw the surveillance photo of the robber on WITN News and called police.

Police say 27-year-old Rodney Milton of Philadelphia is wanted for the robbery just before noon Wednesay on charges of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Felony Possession of Stolen Goods. Milton is also known to reside locally in the Three Bridges Estates area.

The subject is considered armed and dangerous.

Police now have released surveillance pictures of a bank robbery in Jacksonville today.

Just before noon police say a man arrived in a taxi to the Marine Federal Credit Union on Richlands Highway. He waited in line to speak to a teller and then passed a note demanding cash.

Police say the man then left in the taxi.

The robber is described as a black man with short hair, 5'6" to 5'7" tall, weighing between 140 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a black or brown hat with an unknown insignia on the side, a brown or green military style field jacket, a black tee shirt, dark jeans and tennis shoes with white soles.
