NEW INFO: Driver Charged After Car Slams Into Pitt County House

Troopers have charged a woman after her car slammed into a home Tuesday morning in Pitt County.

Barjena Jeffries of Greenville was trapped in her car for about an hour after the accident at the corner of Black Jack Simpson Road and Heber Hudson Road.

The two roads were closed as rescue crews worked to free the 48-year-old woman.

The car slammed into the home's front porch. That created a five-foot hole in the home's front wall, destroyed the front porch and broke the living room window.

Kristine Adams who rents the home was not there when it happened. "The house can be fixed," Adams told WITN News. "Some of the things can be replaced that were inside but I was really concerned about the woman in the car, just to make sure she was ok."

Jeffries was charged with exceeding safe speed. Troopers believe the woman just lost control of her car, over corrected, and struck the house.

Barjeana is in the very palm of God's hand. She is His daughter, He loves her, has protected and sustained her life, and He will continue to guide her. Even IF we make human mistakes, He loves and teaches us. Thankfully no one was hurt because a house can be repaired, and broken items can be replaced. Barjeana is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, and is not replaceable. ...glad the family has come together in love to support their mother. That's the way it should be - families stick together in difficult times.

I am the mother of Barjeana and she is doing well with a very good spirit. People have been so loving and kind. Thanks to all her church family and I am glad to be here with her to help her during her recovery. She is my precious daughter and I am proud of how well she has taken this disappointment. She is a loving kind person who loves people and her children. People have been so kind and loving toward her and I thank you very much.

Well put, Susan. You are truly an amazing friend to Barjeana. I'm sure most of us have family issues that are better kept within the family and not carelessly posted on a public website. When I saw Barjeana last night she was surrounded by her three children and son-in-law. I know that brought her great comfort during this very unfortunate time.

Wow what drama! I hope Barjeana never sees all this. First of all, family is all with her and another is flying in. They do not live around the corner so they had to make plans to get here but they were kept up to date on what was going on. Not everyone has the perfect family life, but we all have to accept what we have. Barjeana has a strong supporting church family that is ready to jump in with whatever is needed. Her health is the first priority, there is no room for negativity around her right now. Barjeana feels awful about what has happened to the house. She is going to have a long recovery ahead of her and we will all be here to support her no matter what caused this accident. It's time to look forward and not back.

I meant nothing negative towards my mother about this specific situation. I shouldn't have posted anything for others to think they know what they're talking about to read. I am sorry for that inconvenience, and sorry if my mom does ever read any of this stuff.

I agree that the issue between her and her children are a family issue, however I find it very sad that her family is not at her bedside nor have been there for her for a very long time. It's her friends that have supported her, been there with her at the hospital. Anonymous: Sorry, there is not a good enough reason to post an accusation such as this on a public site...As you said, that is between the family and should have been kept private. If it's between the family, where are they now, while she is facing another enormous obstacle in her life.

TO A FRIEND: you apparently dont know her that well because for her to say that she nust have had a good reason so you all need to stay out of it and let her children and family deal with it. thank yoou

The driver is my sister. So glad no one in the house was injured. I understand my sister had a heart issue, causing her to black out. This led to the accident. We are holding her in prayer and believing for a full recovery. If my sister could today, I know she would be posting an apology for the inconvenience to the homeowner/renter for this accident. To all those who have posted kind comments about my sister I say thank you. Thanks to everyone who is remembering her and her family in prayer. Her recovery looks like a long one.

To Mindy.... I have lived in that house for the last 4 years. I can guarantee you that there have been lots of prayers said in that house but that's not what's holding it together. It is very sturdy and if you know anything about construction,,, that house was built when a 2x4 was really a 2x4. Thank you Beth and What for defending this great house and my great landlords...To everyone else.. that road is a death trap. I can personally tell you since I've lived there I have seen 5 accidents which I feel have come from speed and the dip in that curve. Please continue to give good thoughts and prayers to Barjeana and her family. That's what everyone needs at this time.
