Troopers have charged a woman after her car slammed into a home Tuesday morning in Pitt County.
Barjena Jeffries of Greenville was trapped in her car for about an hour after the accident at the corner of Black Jack Simpson Road and Heber Hudson Road.
The two roads were closed as rescue crews worked to free the 48-year-old woman.
The car slammed into the home's front porch. That created a five-foot hole in the home's front wall, destroyed the front porch and broke the living room window.
Kristine Adams who rents the home was not there when it happened. "The house can be fixed," Adams told WITN News. "Some of the things can be replaced that were inside but I was really concerned about the woman in the car, just to make sure she was ok."
Jeffries was charged with exceeding safe speed. Troopers believe the woman just lost control of her car, over corrected, and struck the house.
