My heart goes out to the family. I hope that your families will be able to lean on each other for support and prayer at the time of need. The family is going through enough without negative comment and who said or who did will not bring him back. I am very sorry for your loss.

I am his niece and we affectionally called him Uncel Ed. Thanks to everyone who offered genuine sympathy. This was a very tragic accident but now that my uncle is gone we dont need to focus on the life he lived for there is no perfect man. We need to keep praying for his children, my mother, his brothers and the rest of our family that is still grieving over our sudden unexpected loss. He will be missed, but I am so thankful for the memoires that no man can take from us!! My Uncle was a trip, but I loved him and He will forever be in my heart & as my cousin Chris said dont get to messing with me or "Wild Bill" willcome up out of me!!

everyone knows that Brenda Brown Soloman of Hamilton Nc hit jimmy lee. she hit him, turned around and went to the Fida mart store in Hamilton nc. this is clearly a case of hit and run.she was so frantic in the store, she showed guilt right there.she panicked.she lied to the police and said that she was trying to prevent others from hitting jimmy lee is what she originally said. she should have told the truth of what happened but she will be haunted every day of her life for what happened. this saddens me that this lady would do something like this ,lie about it and everything is swept under the rug and that's the end of it.during this time she showed no condolences to the family, called, or nothing. its a shame that people are so cruel in this word.

if you guys up here dont have anything to say please do not say anything at all. keep your negative comments to yourself bc none of you im sure, wasnt at the scene of the accident so none of you know what happened . its not even really important what happened, how, when and where. its pointless. he is now resting in peace.keep in mind that this was someone's father, brother, so forth so on.For all of you that posted your condolences, thank you for your thoughts and continue to keep our family in your prayers......

a man is dead and people want to joke? do you have no heart? who cares why he died, i dont care if it was 'sheer stupidity', his life has ended. afford him the little bit of dignity all human beings deserve by being respectful of him and his family. when you make jokes about the darwin awards, you are doing no better than the people dragging around the bodies of the servicemen killed in the 'black hawk' operation.

I agree. I just wanted people to stop making assumptions. And wether it was his fault or not, he wont be coming home to his family.

He was not laying (anything), he was lying. We are doomed as a society.

I am a family member of the man that was killed. No matter the circumstances, Jimmy Lee was a great, funny, and awesome man. One thing I have realized is that people are going to always have an opinion about something whether it negative or positive. Just remember this could have been you or your family member and Ray could not have said it any better. Thanks! It means alot.

You are welcome, as close friends to Chris and Mickey, I cannot begin to understand their pain & I would hate for any of Jimmy's family to have to read the things that people post up here. You honestly have no idea until it is your family how it feels.

Why are you LOOKING for comments to condemn that person? We don't have all of the facts because it's still under investigation. Is that what we're suppose to do? Are we to stand by with rocks in our hands and be ready to throw without a clear understanding of what really happened? The friends and family of this man may indeed be emotionally suffering; therefore, they could use all of the compassion that we all can provide, even through these message boards.

because when it was a LEO everyone was up here condemning him , without a full investigation , thats all that was posted but yet JOE BLOW hits someone and theres not 500 comments bashing him and saying he needs to be charged? just pointing out the facts

In times like this, it is hard to question what actually happened, but we should remember this was somebodies Father, brother, spouse, so on. and their family can see this too. In a time like this the best thing to do is offer your condolences, since none of us know what truly happened, the only person that does, can't tell us anymore. Our heart goes out to the family as they have suffered a terrible and tragic loss.

@Confused-- the vehicle that hit him stopped up the road so it was not a hit and run.
  • by Confused????? Location: Robersonville on Aug 30, 2011 at 08:59 AM
@ CritterLover I heard that this was a hit and run. So I'm not sure why the news has he was laying in the road.
  • by Curious on Aug 30, 2011 at 08:43 AM
Barring any health issues, I kinda have to go with Darwin's Law here. If you willingly, knowingly lay in the middle of the road, you kinda are asking for it. Again this may not apply to this case.

He was walking to the store. If he was laying in the road it is b/c the first person that hit him left him there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
