Officials from the Pitt County Sheriff's Office remained on the scene of a mobile home fire hours after it was extinguished Tuesday.
The mobile home that caught fire is about a half-mile north of the Country Mart convenience store on Highway 11 between Greenville and Bethel. The call was reported at 5:42 a.m. Emergency officials said two fire departments and EMS responded.
There are no visible signs of fire on the outside of the mobile home, but damage inside is significant. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office reports the mobile home fire on Highway 11 was vacant with no electricity supplied to the home and say it was listed to be rented.
The fire is under investigation. Deputies are not sure if the electricity at the home was turned on or not.
Crews received a call at 5:42 a.m. to respond to the home on NC 11. It is located near the Country Mart, towards Bethel.
Two fire departments and an EMS have just arrived on scene. There is no word yet on if anyone was inside the home at the time.
