UPDATE: String Of Beaufort County Fires Ruled Arson

Authorities now say a string of fires in Beaufort County have been ruled arson.

Captain Kenneth Watson with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says this included the latest fire which happened just after 11:00 pm Thursday night in Bath.

In that fire, crews extinguished the flames at an abandoned tobacco barn. According to firefighters on the scene the barn was destroyed and two acres of land were burned.

Beaufort County Fire Marshal Curtis Avery says the abandoned barn was fully engulfed on Boyd Road off 264 in Bath.

Lawmen also say they believe all of the recent fires are connected.

On Tuesday night firefighters battled five fires in the overnight hours. According to responders, an SBI arson crew that was in the area investigating these fires are now on the scene of the latest blaze that is also being ruled an arson.

To BCSO....DO SOMETHING!!!. Newsflash everyone knows who you are. Dude you lost get over it already. I mean are you gonna stalk the comment section of every story witn puts up until the next election. Why not put encourageing comments thanking the Firemen and the Officers for trying so very hard to catch these crimanls. And if you can't put an encourageing comment then you should wait until a story you know something about comes up, such as a story about how to fix AC units.

To John from Bath...I commend every firefighter and deputy. Who I don't have an ounce of respect for is our money hungry "sheriff". I'm simply stating he has taken deputies positions from the road and has made them supervisory positions in his office. Why? Put those jobs back out patrolling. How many people does he need to do his work for him in the office? To firefighter. FACT: Officer presence are %100 effective. Having training in law enforcement that is the very first level they teach you. Think about when you are traveling down the road and see a HP car, most immediately look down to see what your speed is. This is officers presence. If we never saw HP more people would speed. Same concept, beef up the patrols in Bath and Pinetown.

If you have seen that actually take place you are the lucky one. You will only witness this act 1 time. So guess were you will be in the after life! You witnessed your miracle here on earth. I don't think there will be firefighters there to put out the flames. You think it is HOT here you ain't seen nothing yet!

To anonymous please tell us who the deputy is! If the BCSO has someone on the force that has been deemed an arsonist we all need to know! There is no way that that a deputy with the BCSO has ever done anything wrong! They are all perfect, just like Sheriff! I saw him walking on water!

TO SO WHAT!!!! LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF FIRE OR ACCIDENT THAT THESE FIREMEN AND WOMEN GET CALLED TO, WHEN THEY LEAVE HOME, WORK, WHERE EVER THEY ARE WHEN THE CALL COMES IN THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR LIFE IN HARMS WAY, THEY COULD GET IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE WAY OR SOMETHING CAN HAPPEN TO THEM AT THE SCENE. BUT THEY ARE DEVOTED TO HELPING STRANGERS, EVEN IF IT WAS YOU! AS FAR AS TRAINING IS CONCERNED, NO, FIRES DO NOT COUNT UNLESS IT SCHEDULED TO BE TRAINING. YOU DO NOT TRAIN AT HOUSE FIRES, YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! YOU ARE NOT A VERY BRIGHT PERSON.......BUT "SO WHAT"!

Okay so NO MATTER what the situation someone is always negatively saying something about someone or something. I don't see you being put in the families positions of what is going on right now the fires that are going on and whatever is being burned it's human beings propertys. Yes everyone has a right to there own opinion but alot of people who are bashing the sheriffs dept for not doing something like puttin more deputys on the road, alot of people don't realize that the Sheriffs dept. has to cover ALL of beaufort county! If you can do any better please apply yourselves more and get your tails into beaufort for BLET then maybe you can actually have a right to say something bad about the sheriffs dept. Thank you to all of the Firefighters who are doing what they are doing. Hopefully this person/s will be caught soon enough and pay for what they have done!

for the comments about a firefighter starting then it is possible a few years ago in the bath area there was a boy starting fires and calling them in. he would also be the first one at the fire station so he could drive the trucks. he was caught nothing happened he went to the army and all was forgiven. because he is now a beaufort county deputy sheriff.

To posted by firefighter: There are no more deputies on the road than there were 25 years ago. Why should we donate money to the sheriff`s office? So Mr Jordan can spend it to hire attorneys to go after former deputies to pay their gym bills? They get enough of my tax dollars already by inflating the cost of my home through tax evaluations just so they can get more tax dollars out of me because they are not competent enough to balance their budget and spend our tax dollars with common sense.
