Church Plans Protest At Elizabeth Edwards' Funeral

A church infamous for picketing at military funerals, saying the government supports a homosexual agenda, is bringing its members to the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards.

A press release titled "God Hates Elizabeth Edwards" on the church's website details their plans and reasons for the protest Saturday.

A public memorial service is planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh.

Westboro Baptist Church is based in Topeka, Kansas. It has made headlines for protesting outside military funerals. A handful of church members protested at a vigil for slain Camp Lejeune Marine Maria Lauterbach in 2008.

If you are a Christian, you know this is not a church but a group worshiping their own really off the wall man-made beliefs. They know nothing about God. If you are not a Christian, then you know no better and think this is how all Christians are and that this is the norm. It's far from it, folks! I agree with all those who say to ignore them - they deserve no media attention - their idiotic "cause" will go away if they have no audience. God bless Elizabeth Edwards' family and the memories she leaves behind.

It always astounds me to hear how ignorant members of that tiny little "church" are in their view of the world. No matter your faith, history tells us Jesus preached peace and love and if they want to be ignorant, they should not stand behind Jesus to do it.

GOD doesn't hate anyONE, but yes He does hate the sin. Leave Elizabeth Edwards alone, she has already had to face her Maker, will you be PERFECT when you meet yours?

the existence of God doent hinge on whether you believe or not. If you say there is no God then you must also feel that you know everything. in the vastness of the universe how can an intelectually honest person say that there is no possiblility of a greater being somewhere.

I find it extremely strange that people who do not believe in God, do not want anyone to know who they are. God knows who you are no matter what name you put on a "post".

When this bunch came to Jacksonville a while back, the counterprotest was huge! There were just a few of them. If they had been ignored, it would have removed their thrill/reward factor. The cops escorted them from the airport then back out of town. They appear to feed on stirring up people for attention. Looks like they're getting what they want again.

Folks, take a look at the WBC's press release page. Today they said "11 more dead troops. We are praying for 11,000 more." And they are going to protest at the funeral of children at an Oklahoma high school. True Christians must show up in Raleigh and lovingly surround the Edwards' children to shield them from the view of the WBC Nazis. Yes, WBC's speech is protected but Christ's true church also has the right to display even louder speech. Please join the many who will drown out the WBC heretics at the Edwards' funeral.
