Ayden Hires New Police Chief

Ayden will soon have a new police chief, and he's no stranger to the department.

Barry Stanley, current chief in Bethel, will become head of the Ayden Police Department on December 12th.

Stanley, who has 18 years police experience, has been with Bethel since 2005. He previously worked for Ayden and Grifton.

The hiring came after the town completed an extensive application and interview review process.

Stanley will replace Chief Tim Moseley who retired in September.

This is to "its Me not Ernest T", you need to stop complaining. It is easy for people to sit back and criticize others. Why don't you come to the plate? If things are so bad, why wasn't your name on the ballot? Don't be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution.

For your information Ayden's chief job was posted, and there were other applicants. Before you go accusing the so called "good boy" network to be in effect. And BTW pittleo Bethel is doing a hiring process for the new chief with it being posted for anyone to apply for. No officer should just be moved up in rank when someone leaves an agency just beacuse they are next in command. Hopefully the town of Bethel will look at the applications and choose the best candidate for the job and the department. Oh and congrats Chief Stanley on your new job, I know you will serve the citizens of Ayden as well as you served the ones in Bethel!

Like they did in Lenoir Co., they made another Lt. position for one of the LaGrange officers because LaGrange was losing their force, and the officer had no where to go. "Thats whats called the good ole boy network". Barry will do a superb job for Ayden.

what's bethel going to do for a chief? they don't need one.police or mayor's.they should let,Pitt Co. Sheriff,s dept. take over.I remember when the four lane came threw bethel.the mayor F.H.Said bethel will become a boom town!Yea rite, bethel is about hopeless.can't even sustain a gro.store. Some one NEEDS to come up to Bat for bethel.get that town going again.the few people that run the town don't seem to be able to do anything but go paycheck to me-ger paycheck.probably in the next generation,it will become North Greenville. What a waste,of a town that has alot of possiblities....
