Autopsy Released In Airline Pilot's Death

An autopsy just released provides some new information on a plane crash that killed a commercial airline pilot in Pitt County last summer.

Joshua Brehm died last July when his vintage single seat airplane crashed at a private airstrip off County Home Road. Brehm was a pilot for Southwest Airlines and lived in Greenville.

The autopsy says the 42-year-old man died from a fractured spine and other injuries from the crash. It says no alcohol was found in his system.

A federal report on the crash says the plane approached the runway "in a nose-down, left-bank attitude."

The autopsy report says the plane's left wing struck a ditch, causing it to flip and land upright on the landing strip. Brehm was found unresponsive in the cockpit, while fuel was leaking from the engine onto the victim. Firefighters sprayed foam on the engine and fuel leak and Brehm was pulled from the aircraft's left door.

The National Transportation Safety Board has yet to list a cause for the crash.

To bad WITN has nothing better to reporton & report is wrong. Two seater, no fuel was on the body, he was extrated from the right side. Plane never flipped, I have seen the video. Numerous errors on the initial report. Shows how little they know and why we should not waste time listening to their reports.

Why is this important now, do you not have anything news worthy. The family and friends are just beginning to heal and move forward and now WITN thinks this would be a good news story.
