Autopsy In For Laura Ackerson

The autopsy is complete on Laura Ackerson of Kinston, but the findings are decidedly incomplete. The Kinston Free Press reported Wednesday that the medical examiner could not conclude what killed Ackerson, the Kinston mother of two who disappeared in July.

Her remains were found in a creek in Texas, and the report says the waterlogged remains were decaying. That complicates a medical examiner being able to determine what killed the slain mother.

Ackerson's ex-boyfriend and his new wife, Grant and Amanda Hayes, remain behind bars in Raleigh, charged with Ackerson's murder.

this is for porkchop on the bottom; I agree with you 110% in this sense i think these two will get away with murder because now we have the casey anthony trial, and will have the zara baker cases setting a new precident that its possible to get away with murder if you can not determine the manner and or cause of death, and that it is simply illegal to dispose of a body and not report a death. my guess is that the new law will carry a lower class felony sentence in the 1 yr to 18 month range. lets compare the sentence to the "fake colonel" whom was given 16 months today for what he did. How can these morons we elect into office to make our laws live with themselves by making penalty's for dismembering and disposing of a human body, and impersonating a military officer the same? is that a dumb question and am I the only one who thinks this or should we fire all of our elected officials and start over. Im just wondering where is the justice?? how is that fair? and to think some say our justice system is the best and fairest in the world. could someone explain how? If they are guilty I think being made into fish food like Bin Laden was would be a fair sentence!

There was a time when the father of the murdered girl would take revenge on the killers. They'd be found dead somewhere...the police would clean up the scene...the case was closed....it was a simpler time...a better time.

Can I go back with you, please?? I agree with you 100%, if only our legal system would allow her family decide what justice these two murderers deserve. If we could go back in time, things would certainly be better. Some would call todays laws and legal system progress, I call it sad!!

What is to say she was dead when they decapitated her? I would say that is what took her life in the end.

her ex and his wife killed her, does how they did it really matter. I mean, they hacked her up and took her away to hide her remains. That by itself should be enough to justify capital punishment.

I agree, although they are entitled to due process. But there have been instances in the past where a conviction was won without ever even finding the body.
