A former police officer who is a suspect in a series of arsons in Beaufort County is now facing a second sex charge.
Todd Jarvis was charged Wednesday with one count of indecent liberties with a child in Beaufort County. Last week the former Kinston police officer was charged in Lenoir County with first degree statutory sexual offense.
The 27-year-old Bath man was arrested last month for setting six fires in Beaufort County and one in Washington County.
Beaufort County deputies say they got a report last month that a child was sexually assaulted last October and they began an investigation.
Jarvis' bond was increased by $5,000 for the latest charge.

Lenoir County deputies say the offense happened in January 2008 when Jarvis was a Kinston police officer.
He was arrested last month for setting six fires in Beaufort County and one in Washington County.
Lenoir County deputies say their investigation began after an initial investigation by the Beaufort County Department of Social Services.
The 27-year-old Jarvis had bond set at $50,000 and remains in the Beaufort County jail.
