Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run Case

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a hit-and-run case.

David Grimes was hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.

Thomas Pate, age 39 of Fremont, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

It was originally thought the hit and run happened on Highway 222 in Wilson County, just outside Stantonsburg. An investigation discovered it actually happened in northern Wayne County.

There is no word yet how the incident happened.

Lawmen say Grimes was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. There is no word on his condition at this time.

    I'm willing to bet my last dollar that alcohol played a major role with everyone involved in this senseless act. I also bet my next to last dollar that thay all know each other and that each one contributed. One goes to the hospital and the other to jail.

    And by the way we have contacted the tips page on the page of the local law enforcement "report tips here" page. No one is listening and people need to be punished not just the one that is currently incarcerated.

    It seems to me with all the talking and bragging about this in the little town of Eureka there would be more details and more arrests made. It seems everyone knows whats going on except law enforcement.There were so many more people involved. HELLO

    OK, it is time to ban private ownership of automobiles. They are used much to frequently by impulsive, out of control individuals for malicious purposes. Call your Congressman today and urge him to ban private automobile ownership. (Tongue-in-cheek)
