A group of researchers was in Beaufort County Saturday night into Sunday morning, checking some buildings to see if they are haunted.
The group is called Haunted North Carolina Inc.
One of their first stops was the Turnage Theater. According to the group there is a rumor that many years ago a man that worked at the theater hanged himself in the projection room.
Since then the theater has been renovated, but some workers who were doing the renovations said they heard footsteps and running from the projection room. They say at the time there wasn't any stairs, so there was no way anyone could get to the room.
The researchers use voice recorders, flashlights, and energy readers to try and see if they can connect with a possible spirit or ghost who is the theater.
The researchers sit in a circle and ask the spirit questions. They expect an answer by the flashlight going on and off, a noise, the energy reader may move, or sometimes the voice recorder picks up a voice.
While we were with the group, one of the flashlights did turn off, but there was no other direct responses.
The group was then headed off to other areas of the Turnage as well as other buildings.
We hope to get an update on their findings by later today.
