Who can forget last summer when huge alligator ate an 80 pound dog in Jacksonville.
Well, now that gator has a new home.
It took three shots from a high powered rifle to kill the 12.2 foot long beast, and months later the alligator got stuffed, preserved and moved back to Onslow County.
Friday was media day at the new Onslow County Environmental Education Center and Library in Sneads Ferry. That's where the 540 pound reptile will be the largest attraction. The facility officially opens on Saturday and it also has a stuffed black bear, coyote, in addition to wild foxes.
Ground for the new facility was broken last October and it was built on donated land.
