Two wildfires in eastern North Carolina has created an Air Quality Alert for much of the area on Wednesday. The air quality has deteriorated as smoke from the wildfires has been pushed into most counties of the east. Fine particulates concentrations withing the area may approach or exceed unhealthy standards through the day. Stagnant air associated with very hot and humid weather will make conditions worse. Some improvement may be expected later in the week as winds become more westerly and the threat for some rain increases.
