Several Injured In Lenoir County Crash

A problem intersection in Lenoir County has now seen its fourth major wreck in the last 18 months.

A pick-up truck t-boned a car on Highway 11 near Albrittons Crossroads, according to the Kinston Free Press. The Highway Patrol said the car attempted to cross the southern lane to Greene Haynes Rd., when the truck smashed into the passenger side.

The woman driving the car and one of the passengers in the truck were airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. An ambulance took the driver of the truck to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Another passenger in the truck left the scene of the accident with his parents. There is no word yet on their conditions.

Troopers say no charges have been filed, and actions will likely not be taken until next week.

All four accidents in this same stretch of highway happened as drivers attempted to cross the south-bound lane.
