Accident Snarls Traffic At Greenville Blvd & Evans Street

Traffic at a major Greenville intersection was fouled up after a three vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

The wreck at Greenville Boulevard and South Evans Street blocked drivers on both busy highways. Southbound traffic on Evans could only turn right toward Memorial Drive, while Greenville Boulevard traffic coming into town couldn't make the left onto Evans.

The crash involved two cars and a pickup truck. One person was sent to Pitt County Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic returned to normal around 2:45 p.m. No word from police whether anyone faces charges in the crash.

It's nothing to see 3-6 cars run the red light there on one light change. I drive it twice daily and I NEVER advance until I look both ways and see the way is clear because there are way too many people in a hurry that think the stop light is just a suggestion. There needs to be a change at that light and more patols to catch the runners. That intersection makes me PRO CAMERAS!!

Welcome to Greenville. Ya'all need to learn how to drive. I have seen it all here and now I find that if I need a good laugh, just go out and drive around town, you're bound to find someone doing something stupid.

Moving here from Raleigh I used to frequently drive through downtown Raleigh and both 540 and 440 regularly and the drivers were never half as bad as they are here. The drivers here are horrible! At least 2 cars will run nearly every single red-light. The police don't even enforce traffic violations oftren, probably too busy with their alcohol stings on college kids.

From the photo, that's some major damage for a 45mph roadway.

I have to drive on Arlington every day - people are nuts. Tailgating, or flying around you going 50 while yapping on cell phones.
