A busy Greenville intersection has re-opened after a natural gas leak.

The Stantonsburg Road and Arlington Boulevard intersection was shut down to traffic for more than an hour, according to Greenville police.

Greenville Utilities and Greenville Fire Rescue say it was caused by a cable company doing work in the area.

Greenville Utilities says they stopped the gas leak at 3:24 p.m. and the intersection re-opened around 4:10 p.m.

Three banks at the intersection were evacuated as a precaution, while ambulances coming into Vidant Medical Center had to take alternate routes.

An accident at Stantonsburg and Allen Road has also shut down the same street, between Allen Road and Bethesda Drive.

In that accident, a Jeep landed on its top. There is no word yet on injuries.
