Much milder air has been working into eastern North Carolina as high pressure has slowly moved offshore. Winds have returned to a southerly direction bringing warmer temperatures into the area. Highs on Wednesday topped out in the 60s. We should be about 5 to 7 degrees warmer on Thursday afternoon as highs hit the lower 70s under partly sunny skies. A cold front will arrive Friday morning bringing a chance for showers and a possible thunderstorm. Highs will drop into the lower to middle 60s Friday as the showers end late in the day. Sunny skies will return on Saturday with highs in the 50s.
