A deep and rich southerly flow of moisture will give eastern Carolina a good chance for showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. The warm and unstable air, combined with a slowly moving cold front pushing eastward, will cause numerous showers and a possible thunderstorm during the day. Many locations should see an inch or more of rain before it ends Wednesday. Locally heavier amounts could push 2 to 3 inches. The clouds and showers will hold highs near 80° Tuesday afternoon. The moisture should slowly move eastward on Wednesday as the rain tapers off. More sunshine and comfortable temperatures can be expected for the end of the week.
