High pressure brought sunshine and warmer temperatures to eastern North Carolina on Tuesday but a storm system developing across the southern Plains will move eastward and spread moisture into the area on Wednesday. The rain could be moderate to heavy at times with most locations receiving a half-inch to inch, with locally heavier amounts. The rain will taper off Wednesday night but there will be a continuing chance for showers through Friday. Highs the next few days will top out in the 50s with overnight lows in the 40s. We should see more sunshine by the weekend as highs reach the lower 60s.
