It has been a very cold week although warmer air is due to arrive over the weekend. Eastern North Carolina has experienced a cold winter thus far with average temperatures about 8 to 9 degrees below normal. We will some relief over the weekend as highs hit close to 50 degrees each afternoon even though overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s. Winds will be light and that will make the afternoons quite comfortable. Showers will arrive early next week, with the mild temperatures continuing into Tuesday.
