High pressure that brought cold air to eastern North Carolina over the weekend is moving offshore, allowing southerly winds to return. The winds will bring much warmer temperatures to the area on Tuesday. Highs will be about 15 to 20 degrees warmer as most locations reach the middle to upper 60s. A strong cold front will arrive late Tuesday night causing a few showers. Colder and drier air will follow the front on Wednesday and Thursday.
