A Warmer Friday

A surge of southerly winds will bring warmer air and some moisture into eastern North Carolina on Friday. Temperatures will warm into the middle 70s during the afternoon. A weak cold front will push into the Piedmont by late afternoon causing an increase in clouds and a few showers and thunderstorms by late in the day. Any shower activity should diminish overnight with plenty of sunshine on tap for Saturday as highs once again hit the 70s. Mother's Day looks a bit unsettled with highs in the 70s to around 80 degrees, with a 30% risk of an afternoon thunderstorm.
