Skies cleared across eastern North Carolina on Thursday after the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee moved north of the area. A few showers lingered across northeastern sections but they were rapidly diminishing during the evening. There will be plenty of sunshine with highs in the middle to upper 80s Friday afternoon. Hurricane Katia is moving rapidly away from the East Coast Thursday evening. Rough surf and dangerous rip currents will continue through Friday. Improving conditions can be expected over the weekend along the beaches. Otherwise, coastal areas should be lots of sunshine with highs in the lower to middle 80s.
