Cold air remains entrenched across eastern North Carolina as high pressure settles over the area. Winds have diminished thus making the cold temperatures a bit more tolerable. Overnight lows will dip into the upper teens to lower 20s. Sunny skies will help temperatures rebound into the lower to middle 40s Friday afternoon. Warmer conditions will arrive for the weekend with highs in the seasonable lower 50s during the afternoons. The next chance for showers will arrive Monday night and Tuesday.
