A large dome of hot air will continue across eastern North Carolina through the remainder of the week and Memorial Day Weekend. We'll see highs in the middle 90s inland and middle to upper 80s along the coast on Thursday. Winds will blow from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, with slightly higher breezes along the beaches. The heat will moderate slightly Friday and Saturday as highs get close to 90 degrees. There will also be a slight risk of a thunderstorm both afternoons. The extreme heat will build again on Sunday with highs in the lower 90s. Middle 90s can be expected by early next week.
