A low pressure system moving northeast out of the Gulf of Mexico will bring rain to eastern North Carolina overnight into Wednesday. The heaviest rainfall will fall along the coast where totals could reach 1 to 2 inches. Lesser amounts are expected west of Highway 17. The rain will taper off to light rain or drizzle on Wednesday as the low pressure moves up the coast. Highs should reach the lower to middle 50s Wednesday afternoon before falling back into the 40s for highs on Thursday. The sun will return Thursday and stay with us into the weekend.
