A weak cool front passed through eastern North Carolina early Wednesday followed by drier air. Skies were mostly sunny but highs still reached the middle 90s during the afternoon. Slightly cooler air will work southward into the area overnight and we'll see highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s by Thursday afternoon. Some clouds will move into the area but any shower activity will be limited both Thursday and Friday. There will be an increasing threat of rain by the end of the weekend.
