A defense contractor is drawing attention to the fact that good jobs are available to workers who spend a few months earning the specific technical skills and certifications some employers need.
AAR Corp. CEO David Storch is in Goldsboro on Thursday to talk about how the parts and service supplier for military and commercial aircraft has worked with North Carolina community colleges to train workers.
A spokeswoman says the company is hiring 100 people in Goldsboro to add to its workforce of 350. The Goldsboro site designs and manufactures containers and shelters used for military and humanitarian operations.
The Illinois company was in the news earlier this year after buying the aviation affiliate of the security company formerly known as Blackwater and then shutting down its North Carolina operation.
