Three men have been arrested for child sex crimes in Onslow County. One man is being held on a nearly $900,000 bond charged with a dozen counts of rape and sex offenses with a child.
The Onslow County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Heath Hayes was arrested Wednesday after being on the run several months. The victim's grandmother made a report in May about the molestation and rape of the girl between 2007 and 2009.
Hayes of Chadbourn fled and was arrested in West Virginia by U.S. Marshalls. He's being held on a $866,000 bond.
37-year-old Axel Alago of Jacksonville was also arrested and is charged with 11 counts of statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child, and crimes against nature. Deputies say Alago turned himself in Thursday- about 2 months after the Department of Social Services reported the accusations he molested a girl between the time she was 8 and 12-years-old.
19-year-old Terry Widner of Jacksonville is charged with indecent liberties with a child and sexual battery. He's accused of fondling a 12-year-old girl as she visited a relative August 29th. The victim's grandfather reported the abuse and Widner was arrested Thursday.
