The driver in a Bertie County single-car crash will face charges after lawmen say three passengers under the age of four were not properly restrained.

The accident happened on St. Francis Rd., south of Windsor Monday, according to the Roanoke Chowan News-Herald. The paper says Carol Spivey Lee, 55, crashed with two two-year-olds and a four-year-old in the car. Neither of the three children were secured in car safety seats.

The report says two of the children are from Williamston and one is from Greenville. They were taken to Bertie Memorial Hospital, but all are expected to be okay.

Lee faces careless and reckless driving and child restraint charges.
