The chance of an accident increases during the holidays, so the state highway patrol is working to reduce them with more traffic enforcement, ahead of Labor Day weekend.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is continuing its tradition of participating in the national Operation C.A.R.E, or Combined Accident Reduction Effort.
Operation C.A.R.E happens near holidays. It is a nationwide effort designed to prevent accidents and ensure drivers obey the rules of the road.
This year, the operation began 12:01 a.m. Friday and will continue through 12 a.m. Monday.
There will be a special emphasis on seat belt safety for children during the operation.
