An effort to crackdown on speeding before and during the Thanksgiving holiday led to nearly 27,000 speeding violations across the state.
The governor's highway safety program conducted the No Need to Speed campaign from November 15 - 28. The speeding violations were part of the 78-thousand traffic and criminal citations issued.
In addition, lawmen apprehended 873 fugitives from justice and recovered 82 stolen vehicles.
